April Hannah is an
artist and designer working in Brooklyn. She received her MFA from
the School of Visual Arts in 2001. April’s work will be included in the upcoming 2010 CMCA Biennial at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport, Maine as well as a solo exhibition at the Islesboro Historical Society of Islesboro, Maine. Previously, her work has been shown in both local and
national venues including Arthouse at the Jones Center in Austin, Texas; SPACES Gallery in
Cleveland, Ohio and the Carlos Gallery of Sewanee: The University of the South in
Sewanee, Tennessee.
April is now offering
innovative products for the home, which can be seen at BKLYN DESIGNS 2010 in May. Inspired by the networks, patterns and processes of nature the pieces
exhibit a modern, simple yet sophisticated, playful aesthetic that engage both
children and adults. A limited edition cast concrete table collection is
available as well as a newly launched line of furniture for children and adults
employing durable, environmentally sustainable materials and non-toxic
coatings. Prior to attending the School of Visual Arts, April worked for several years as a creative director for an advertising agency. Some of her clients included General Electric, PNC Bank and International Paper.
